Hola amig@s fintech,

Nu México spent years proving itself as a starter account. On August 6 it graduates to a full commercial bank, a promotion that regulators, not users, ultimately hand out.

Latam as a whole hasn't gotten that promotion yet. Zero of the 86 unicorns minted globally in H1 2026 came from the region, a gap explained in this week's Editor's Picks: it's not that Latam isn't building, it's that it's barely playing in the categories the world is currently rewarding.

Enjoy the read!
